Spanish Teacher Training

INITIAL SPANISH TEACHER TRAINING COURSE

 

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

 

This is a 132-hour course which includes preparation of practice sessions and the study of methodology and language analysis. Previous teaching experience is not required but experienced teachers are also welcome. Groups consist of a minimum of six and a maximum of twelve trainees.

 

CONTENT OF THE METHODOLOGY SESSIONS

 

· The teaching of Spanish as a foreign language: objectives, approaches and methodology
· The role of the teacher
· Classroom dynamics
· Presenting new language
· Techniques and communicative activities to practise the new language
· Language skills
· Lesson planning
· Textbook and materials analysis

 

PRACTICE SESSIONS

 

These are a very important part of the course. Trainees are observed by one of the course tutors and there is a feedback session after the class.
Apart from school class hours, participants are expected to work at home and to get together in teams in order to prepare practice classes according to instructions given by the course tutors.

 

This course is designed for fluent Spanish speakers, either native or non-native, who would like to learn how to teach Spanish to foreigners. We offer both intensive (full-time, 4-weeks) as well as extensive (part-time, 3 months) courses.
