One of the most important questions people ask us is: will I be able to find a job?
And the answer is: Yes, absolutely! Demand may fluctuate regionally but globally there has been sustained high demand for English language teachers — and the CELTA is the very best choice to enhance your employability. Our course includes input sessions dedicated to helping you find the kind of work that you want, which includes providing you with contacts of schools, resources for job search and skills development on the Internet, and interview preparation.
The International House network of schools in Mexico is a very active CELTA centre, and the largest CELTA centre in Central and South America (we run over 22 CELTA courses in the country every year). Ih Mexico is one of the only centres in the world that provides active job placement. Once you have completed your CELTA course with us, you will be able to get a job through one of the following options:
- We have developed relationships with the most reputable employers in Mexico, which exclusively or preferentially hire teachers certified at our centre. Upon request, we can put you in contact with these employers.
- More importantly, we hire our own CELTA graduates on a very regular basis, and after every course there normally are open vacancies and opportunities to become part of the IH Mexico staff at any of our 10 branches in the country where there might be a demand for teachers (Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Guadalajara, Monterrey, for example).
- Finding a job through our network of former CELTA candidates is also possible. Some former CELTA graduates have now developed their own businesses and access our network to look for IH Mexico CELTA graduates.
- We put you in contact with the head of recruitment at IHWO, who can help with information on vacancies and potential jobs around the world.
Whether you decide to stay in Mexico or go global, we do everything we can to help you get a good teaching job. Some of our former CELTA graduates are now an important part of our own staff (e.g. our current Director of Studies took CELTA in 2008 with us).
